#GlobalRecyclingDay – Focus on resource conservation
March 18, 2024 is Recycling Day. On this day, numerous campaigns around the world will highlight the central role that recycling plays in resource and climate protection. The Austrian Carbon Cycle Circle – Team for Sustainable Carbon Cycle (ÖCC²) thinks about recycling issues on a daily basis and sets initiatives that focus on the need for resource efficiency.
Borealis celebrates its 30th anniversary
In March 2024, Borealis celebrates its 30th anniversary. Formed from a merger between Statoil and Neste, the company has grown from its early Nordic roots to become one of the world’s top ten suppliers of polyolefins and is driving change in the industry. With the aim of creating value through innovation, the company has developed proprietary technologies that benefit society and accelerate the transition to a circular economy.
Borealis with high-barrier packaging for mechanical recycling of PP
Borealis announces the launch of a new MMonomaterial bag designed for recycling with a PP content of over 95%, which will be presented at the Plastics Recycling Show Europe (PRSE) in May. Developed in collaboration with partners along the value chain, the sustainable high-barrier packaging format offers a range of benefits for film and laminate manufacturers as well as brand owners and end consumers. As mono-material PP packaging, it can help to achieve the EU’s ambitious recycling and waste reduction targets for packaging and packaging waste (PPWR) and make sensible use of recycling processes in line with extended producer responsibility (EPR).

The Wittmann Group looks to the future with optimism
The Wittmann Group was able to maintain its turnover at the previous year’s level in the 2022 financial year. An increase of around 10 % is targeted for 2023.
Successful start to sustainability manager training!
The Austrian Carbon Cycle Circle (ÖCC²) sustainability manager course with a focus on plastics was launched at the TFZ in Wiener Neustadt at the beginning of February. In cooperation with ECCOStandards & more KG, this course leads to certification in accordance with EN ISO 17024.
